Farmers Market Update and A Bit of a Blow

We had a great time at the Traverse City Farmers Market on Saturday, August 8th, visiting with many of you, and talking about the culinary possibilities of saskatoon berries and products. Thank you for stopping by to chat and sample. And a special thanks to each of you that purchased our jams and fruit fillings, and helped build the future of this yummy superfruit! None of us had any idea what was coming the next day.

Well, the biggest storm of this century blew through on Sunday. The hardy saskatoon bushes did pretty well – mostly untouched.  But the beautiful giant trees on the farm did not fair so well.

After taking stock of our situation, and meeting with the insurance adjuster, we have some long hard work ahead of us. So it is that, with regret, we announce that we will need to take a few weeks off from the Farmers Market to work on the farm, focusing on storm damage cleanup while balancing our other commitments.

Much of our inventory was protected from the storm, and remains in pristine condition. We will, soon, launch the new version of our e-business website, where you will be able to place orders online for shipping. In the meantime, you are welcome to give us a call to place orders and arrange for pick-ups or deliveries. Saskatoon Steve’s direct line is 231.360.0311.

And you can still find our saskatoon fruit fillings in many markets in the greater Traverse City area.

We so appreciate our customers, and will miss the face-to-face chats and seeing the eyes and smiles of those trying saskatoons for the first time. We will ounce back!  And we will be back!
